Margaret River is the foremost Geographical Indication wine region in the South West Australia region. Margaret River wine region is made up predominately of boutique size wine producers; although winery operations range from the smallest crushing 3.5 tonne per year to the largest around 7000 tonne. The climate of Margaret River is more strongly maritime-influenced than any other major Australian region.
It is a medium to full bodied Bordeaux style wine with noticeable fine tannin and bright fruit. The flavours are predominantly dark fruit with hints of red fruit, dark chocolate, fruit pastels and eucolypt. The wine has a good tannin structure ideally suited to aging.
It is fresh and zesty with abundant tropical fruit flavours with notes of Granny Smith, lemon and pear. The wine also displays some residual sugar which is well balanced by the lively acidity and slightly elevated CO2. A great wine for relaxed summer drinking.
